I am 23 years old, weight 145 LBS, and work outside in a fairly physically demanding job 5 days a week. I've smoked cannabis on and off (mostly on) since I was 16. I don't like to drink alcohol that often, maybe once a month honestly, and I vape (nicotine). At this point in my life I definitely would call myself a daily cannabis user, and it does everything I need in order to feel relaxed, or like 'myself', as I would put it.

Also, since about the age of 17, I would experiment with Opioids (namely Percocet and Vicodin) but never found myself latching onto them for more than a weekend experience or outing with friends, and that wasn't often. I've experienced almost all of the popular drugs (except for the harsh street ones -- as I call them -- meth, heroine, crack cocaine, etc.) but again, those were rare exceptions and mainly I took them to find out for myself what that experience would be like when I was younger.

At the age of 21 an accident occurred involving a Xanax I took as a relatively new user (driving and leaving my house was the most irresponsible thing to do) and I ended up totaling my car, luckily no one was hurt. This left me in a place where I was able to work, but had no vehicle and on most weekends I began to take pain pills to pass the time and 'have fun'/relax after a week of work. I convinced myself it wasn't a problem because I mainly left my opioid activities for the weekends, but once it became an every weekend sort of thing, or 'I have spare cash so I'll get some' thing, I got worried.

I would almost always insufflate (snort) them, and smoke cannabis to increase the high. It wouldn't take much, usually 10-20mg and a bong rip, and I would be floating on what felt like cloud 9 for an hour or so.

Recently, after realizing this cycle was going nowhere and also after being in multiple bad situations due to my opioid habit, I quit them entirely. I found myself getting cravings and I was snorting 300-400mg of acetaminophen every now and then, and surprisingly doing that and hitting the bong brought a similar effect. I'm assuming it was 99% placebo, and somewhat of a pavlov effect, where my brain connected that I snorted and smoked, releasing a similar effect. (I wouldn't insufflate acetaminophen/tylenol, it can cause liver damage and its not really beneficial for my high). I realized how stupid and dangerous doing that is, and now have stopped that entirely, so I racked my memory for something else I could try in order to help curb my opioid cravings or at least give me a new *weekend substance* or something other than cannabis for when my body is aching, or my mind is wandering as I say (negative thoughts/depression.)

------------------------- Kratom Use: First Experience April 15, 2018 ---------------------------

I woke up today at approximately 8:30, after purchasing my kratom the night before. I went to my local head shop and bought a 20$ pouch of Kratom, which was sealed and contained 65 kratom-filled gelatin capsules. I did a lot of research before buying, and heard about the benefits of the different strains, and after talking to the head shop worker who was a good friend of mine, I decided on the Green Hulu Kapuas as a good starter. I was going to try it that night, but knowing that I had recently eaten and that this was going to be my first experience, I decided to wait.

I took 6 capsules at 8:55 a.m. And hopped in the shower. At about 9:15 I got out and popped one more capsule, a little skeptical of what was to come, putting me at 7 total. I am writing this sentence at 10:08 and can feel a nice warm glow. Nothing too strong yet, but I am giving this about 10-20 more minutes before I go for a re dose. I haven't smoked yet because I am worried I may ruin my ability to solely experience the effects of kratom, but I am very interested to try it because that was my usual route with opioids, euphoria, and then rip the bong to really get going.

UPDATE: 10:40 a.m. It is now 10:40 and I sadly just vomited a little. The slight warmth I felt slowly turned to a nausea feeling. Saw barely any of what a capsule of kratom can hold (approx 0.1g) in my 'puke' which was basically water, so I'm assuming its mostly been absorbed by now. I'm going to rip the bong and update because I usually would've smoked by now, so lets see how this combo is! I was going to possibly re dose, but because I got sick I'm going to hold off on the re dose until after I smoke possibly.

UPDATE: 11:42 a.m. I hit the bong about 5 minutes ago and I feel GREAT. The nausea has now went away and I feel nice and lifted so I should've probably smoked a bong pack earlier than I did. I think cannabis after kratom is definitely a great way for me to use it. I think part of the reason why I got sick is because I delayed my usual smoking habit longer than normal for the sake of getting a true test of the kratom's effects. In reality, that isn't a true test for myself because as a frequent cannabis user I do smoke when I wake up so I maybe should've done that. I'll try that another time. For now I'm going to continue with my day and continue with my log on the evening update (if I feel the need to re-dose.)

UPDATE: 4:40 P.M I decided to finally re-dose after realizing most of the effects had worn off, or the ones I desired. I took 5 (.5 g) capsules, for a total of 2.5gs of the kratom powder. Will update when effects kick in.

UPDATE 5:50 P.M Effects started to onset, a slight euphoric glow, reminiscent of that opioid feeling is present. Nothing too strong but I took relatively small doses so this effect is fairly surprising and welcome! I've decided to take four more capsules considering I've eaten and I feel more comfortable with it.

It's now 6:20 and I'm taking four (.5g) capsules. Will continue. I hit the bong a few times but I definitely feel a euphoria in my head and body slightly. My chest is a little odd feeling kind of like a frog in my throat feeling, maybe from swallowing so many large capsules that I'm not used to. The feeling is fairly good, and for using capsules I'm impressed considering if I broke them open and made a tea or something I've heard it is stronger.

FINAL UPDATE: 8:37 P.M Overall I enjoyed my first experience, my left eye was sort of watery for the past hour but that died down I'm not sure if that was anything to do with the kratom. I feel like I have a head high, which causes somewhat of a headache in a way, but nothing unbearable or concerning. Possibly a side effect of being a new user or taking this much for my first time? I definitely feel the effects of the product, and the way it was described to me by the headshop owner was fairly accurate. Upon my own research I found mostly to dose lower and go higher which is always the safe route, and I will definitely do that with kratom from now on or I could find myself becoming extremely nauseous.

This was an enjoyable experience and interesting, but maybe this strain isn't the perfect one for me because of the slight headaches, but I'll possibly try more in the future! I'd give this experience a 7.5/10, and for $20 you can't beat what the product supplies me, Peace!
