I ordered some san pedro cactus chips online from a fairly local, British website. I had heard that this cactus contains quantities of mescaline in it when brewed so I was fairly intrigued to see what the effects would be like. When it arrived I got my Brother to prepare the brew for me, as he had more of an idea of what to do with this sort of thing. As I recall he blended the chips and then boiled them on the hob, until there was this gloopy like liquid. I added some ginger, as I read somewhere it helped with nausea issues.

I drank it down, mostly holding my nose whilst doing so as it worked on my gag reflex and tasted rather unpleasant. After I'd ingested the liquid I went to my friends house and I told him I had taken some of this san pedro which I ordered, so he let me chill round his for a bit. After about an hour of being round there, my vision started to go slightly blurry, a bit like when you're coming up off an ecstasy pill. I kept asking my friend if I could stand in his garden for a bit as I felt rather sick, and my heart was racing slightly.

When I finally came up off the pedro I was literally in my own world, other people had come round to my friends house, and they were getting on weed and cocaine etc, but I felt like I had no eagerness to speak to them at all. I sat back on my mates sofa and looked at the various pictures on his wall, and saw lights flickering off them and coming towards me, the music around me was enhanced, and I generally has some lovely visuals throughout the night. However one draw back from the experience was the uncomfortable feelings in my arms and legs, almost like a kind of electric shock feeling which occurred abundantly, and so at times I felt very uncomfortable sitting down. My heart also raced rapidly now and again, and so my body certainly did feel rather poisoned during periods of the night. Visually excellent though! One of my friend's face turned in to a monkey's at one point, and as I later on walked through the street, my legs felt like I was trudging through a swamp, I looked up at the sky often as well, and it looked majestic, and at times I found myself questioning my atheistic view of the universe, as it almost felt deified at certain moments.

As I eventually became to come down from the cactus about 6 hours later, I had a beer and had a few tokes on my mates joint which put me in a nice mellow state. I slept fine afterwards and woke up feeling refreshed with no come down or negative after effects of any sort. Overall my experience with San Pedro was interesting, I certainly underestimated it at the time, and 12.5 grams of chips was certainly enough for me, as it was visually pleasant and certainly unique. Although as I stated before the draw back the irritating feelings in my arms and legs, so be aware of that before you take it. But for people who are interested in altered states of mind and mysticism, this cactus may well be an Eye opener.
