What are "Ludes"?
Q: I would just like to know. what exactly are "Ludes" i have seen them mentioned on a message board before. Are they avabile today, are they legal, what are they?

A: "Ludes" is a slang term for Quaaludes, or methaqualone. Quaaludes were a prescription sedative drug which was popular in the 1970's. They were very widely abused as a recreational drug, and so they were banned in 1982. They are no longer sold legally in the United States, although they still appear on the black market occasionally from international sources as well as underground chemists. Fake 'Quaaludes' also occasionally appear on the black market which are made from other drugs such as Xanax or Valium. The effects of Quaaludes are similar to the effects of other sedatives. Some people say that the effects were quite similar to GHB, in particular.
