Q: |
Would it be possible to cultivate ergot fungus on marijuana? If so, how could it be done and would it produce the desired effect if smoked? |
|
A: |
Practically, the answer is no. Ergot is a fungus which grows specifically on cereal grains, most commonly Rye, but also Barley, Wheat, and Oats. While it's conceivable that someone highly skilled in botany or with expertise in Ergot fungus might be able to grow it on other substrates, it's not a practical consideration for ergot cultivation.
It should also be pointed out that Ergot is poisonous in its raw state. While extracts of it can be used in the production of LSD, this does not mean that the Ergot fungus itself produces LSD like effects when ingested and certainly not when smoked.
