“Cocaine's role in drug-exposed babies' problems questioned”.
Brown Univesity Child and Adolescent Behavior Letter. 1996;12(9):5-6.
Abstract
This article discusses two studies that question the affect of prenatal cocaine exposure on early childhood development. The studies indicate that while crack babies might have lower birth weight than other newborns, differences in long-term development were difficult to find. By the time the children in these studies reached 2 years of age there was no evidence that there is any effect on their development or social skills. These findings contradict previous studies suggesting that crack babies were doomed to social problems.
