Latest Additions
Over the past five years, Erowid volunteers, led by the amazing Shawn, have worked countless hours transcribing and proofreading lab books produced by chemist Alexander Shulgin from the 1960s through the 1980s. Pharmacology Notes - Book 2 is now the third book available in a fully digital and searchable edition.
The recent publication of Dennis McKenna's autobiography, The Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss inspired Ralph Metzner to reflect on the contributions made to the psychedelic community by his friends, the McKenna Brothers.
This ninth issue of Psychozoic Press, from Autumn 1984, features a fun rant from Thomas Lyttle regarding esoteric knowledge imparted within psychedelic states, an early published version of "MDMA: General Information" (written by Ann Shulgin), notes on 5-MeO-DMT and IT-290 by Francis Gerard, the continuation of Elvin Smith's Terence McKenna interview, plus book reviews, and more.
Crew Notes
A new Erowid "Words" t-shirt design went off to the printer yesterday. It should be available on the site in about 10 days!
From the Vaults
Nineteen years ago, author "T. Pachanoi" posted this history of and preparation guide for the mescaline-containing San Pedro cactus to the Altered Consciousness BBS. Back in 1994, a year-and-a-half before Erowid.org first came online, Bulletin Board Systems helped fill the information gap that is now occupied by web pages, special interest forums, and social networking sites.
