  1. Culture Vaults

    The culture vaults have now been re-launched with new Erowid 3.0 headers, navigation, and updates. If you have a correction for any page in the Culture area (as well as Spirit & Freedom areas), please use the new function in the footer that allows errors to be reported.

  2. The Neuropharmacology of Hallucinogens: a brief introduction

    A technical summary article that has been in the works for months. Attempts to present a unified theory on the mechanisms of hallucinogens. Thanks to BilZ0r for all his work.

  3. Psychedelic Pioneer Humphry Osmond Dies
    British psychiatrist and psychedelic researcher Humphry Osmond died on Feb 6, 2004 at the age of 72. Osmond worked with mescaline and LSD in the 50s and 60s, primarily seeking treatment possibilities for alcoholism and schizophrenia. He is best known for coining the term "psychedelic" in a letter to Aldous Huxley in 1956.

  4. Does Yerba Maté Contain Caffeine or Mateine?

    A short article examining the question of whether Yerba Maté contains caffeine or mateine, and whether mateine exists at all.

  5. U.S. Legal Status of Non-Peyote Mescaline-Containing Cacti

    Additional detail about the complex issue of laws surrounding mescaline-containing cacti.

  6. New Character Vaults

    Continuing to develop this section, we have added:

    Completely revised Burning Man Vault, including new photo collections from 2000-2004 and an update of the FAQ.

  11. Cancer Study Seeks Patients for Psilocybin Research

    Research being conducted at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is seeking cancer patients as volunteers. Erowid is not affiliated with this research.
