Erowid Announcement #2
December 18, 1998
Hey Entheophiles,

Here's a list of what we've been working on for the last month at Erowid. We've gotten a few requests for our pgp key so people can send us submissions privately. I've attached the key to the end of this message.

We welcome submissions, suggestions, criticisms, or corrections at

  1. Ethnobotany & Ethnopharmacology Vaults

Some new organization and new information about both modern and traditional cultural use of psychoactive plants and chemicals. New sections on Spiritual and Traditional use, Medicinal and Healing uses, and Recreational use.

  2. DPT Vault

Includes information on the legal status, chemical structure, and dosage of N,N-dipropyltryptamine. Several experience reports from individuals who have tried DPT, as well as a great DPT Primer with a lot of good basic info.

  3. Drug Testing Vault Expanded

Added drug testing FAQ, 2 books on drug testing. New information on testing for opiates and amphetamines.

  4. Description of the calculation process for "The Social Costs of Alcohol and Drug Use"

If you've ever wondered where the numbers come from when people say "drug abuse has cost the U.S. x billion dollars in the last 10 years" you might find this interesting. It's a description of how those numbers are officially calculated.

  5. Perilous Play, by Louisa May Alcott

A Victorian short story about hashish by Louisa May Alcott. A fun read.

  6. Chemistry Vaults

Added dozens of new chemicals. We've added the basic 3D chime models for all the molecules in TiHKAL and are working our way through PiHKAL. These don't all have jpg versions yet, (so they're not all available in chem-compare yet) but we're getting there. We've also added an index to the TiHKAL molecules at :

  7. Index to the chemicals in TiHKAL

An index of the molecules in TiHKAL, linked into models or images of the chemicals.
