I acquired a gram of glaucine powder, hoping to discover a new alternative to recreational opiates that was both legal and easily available. After reading all the information I could find on the chemical, I was slightly apprehensive. I had read both great experiences and terrible experiences. The description of effects ran the gamut between opiating and hallucinogenic; I had even heard that the compound was a dopamine antagonist, which I believe to be similar to most conventional antipsychotics (as excessive dopamine in certain parts of the brain causes paranoia, delusions, etc… anyone who binges on stimulants can attest to this). This didn’t really sound great, but not that terrible (low doses of quetiapine, while boring, provided me with a nice numbing effect that gave me great sleep).

Anyway, I was still interested in trying the drug for the sake of science, so I weighed out three capsules, one containing 72 mgs of glaucine, the other two containing 98 mgs of glaucine (the imprecise numbers are my estimation of the weight, as my scale is slightly suspect). Anyway, I downed the 72 mg gel cap at 2:50 pm, hoping that the effects would be gone by bedtime so I could get a good night’s sleep. I planned to take one of the other capsules if the effects didn’t manifest, and I am very glad I did not do this.

After about one hour, I felt a little relaxation but nothing that I could rule out as placebo. Slightly disappointed but otherwise indifferent, I set about my normal routine, brewing a cup of coffee and sitting down to read a book. About halfway through the cup of coffee I got up to have a cigarette, and was hit by an extremely strange and unpleasant feeling (the time was exactly 4:15 pm). It was very hard to describe, but the come up of a mid level dose of DXM (250 mgs or so) or a couple caps of mushrooms would be a good comparison (that cold, strange feeling of rising, becoming a liquid… I assume if you’re reading this you probably understand). I felt very nauseous, anxious, and inebriated. Feeling the need to vomit I stumbled into the bathroom, bumping into the couch as my body felt very numb and hard to control (again, think DXM). I got to the toilet and coughed a little bit, but nothing came up.

The anxiety began to get stronger, accompanied by a strange feeling of numbness in my teeth
that I get with drugs like ecstasy, alcohol, DXM, and mushrooms (the feeling that makes gum so delightful when rolling). My vision was very clear, leading me to believe that my pupils were dilated, but I felt too nauseous to walk to the bathroom and check. The anxiety kept coming in waves, finally peaking at a level akin to the third day of cold turkey morphine withdrawal (absolutely unbearable). In a panic I crawled to the kitchen and swallowed two capsules of Neurontin, an extremely effective anti-anxiety medication in my opinion. I drank as much water as I could, and after probably forty five minutes I began to feel the gabapentin kicking in, which pretty much put an end to my experience. Two hours later I felt nicely GABAnized, and essentially back to normal (although with a slight stomach ache).
In summation, from my experience this compound was NOTHING like opiates. I admit that I took a lower dose (even lower than the apparent maximum therapeutic dose in Bulgaria!) so maybe a higher one would cause these effects, but I am skeptical and frankly unwilling to try. My guess would be, from the dissociative type effects I experienced, that this compound is an NMDA antagonist, possibly also a sigma agonist (which could account for the pronounced dysphoria and dread, effects I have heard some people experience with this activity). If anything, I would expect higher doses of this compound would be akin to taking DXM with a low dose of olanzapine or maybe atropine, laced of course with syrup of ipecac. While I am not one to label a substance, when it comes to glaucine don’t let my suffering be in vain. I do these things to help others make smarter choices, and if you simply must try this substance start at a VERY low dose (I have read that 40ish mgs provides threshold psychoactivity, and would probably provide a taste of the compound). I didn’t have any fun with it, and I used to love robotripping when I was in high school. This stuff is similar but feels MUCH more toxic. You have been warned.
