Today I’d like to share a recent experience I have had with 50mg of MXPr (or 3-MeO-2’-Oxo-PCPr) orally and in combination with a joint of cannabis later on. Having little information available around on this compound, I had moderate expectations but ended up being quite surprised. Since the experience was quite unique and very little reports are available I thought I would [submit] one.
A few informations beforehand:
I am a 20 yo french male living in Spain, quite interested in psychedelics and psychoactive compounds in general. Before this trip I had previous experiences with Cannabis (also a bunch of derivatives like THC-P, HHC, HHC-PO), Mushrooms (4-HO-DMT), 4-HO/AcO-MET, 4-HO-MiPT, 5-MeO-MiPT, DPT, LSD, AL-LAD, PRO-LAD, LSZ, Methallylescaline, 2C-D, 2C-B-FLY, Salvia Divinorum, 5-MAPB, Nitrous, DCK, DMXE, 3-Me-PCPy, MXP, Kratom, Alcohol, Muscimol, Blue Lotus, Nicotine, Khat/Catha Edulis (Cathinone), 2-MMC, Leonurin and Harmin/Harmalin. I always do a lot of research on all compounds (even ones am not interested in taking) and start with low/medium doses, weighed on a calibrated balance (supposedly precise but errors of a few mg are expected). I do not take any side treatment but I am a daily weed smoker.
Setting:
I will be alone in my apartment in Madrid where I feel very comfortable, and have access to an outside terrace. I also live next to a wide natural park I can easily access and go enjoy nature. For this specific experience I will end up staying inside and only getting out on the terrace for smoking.
Set:
I am in a very positive mood (boosted by a random encounter that same morning with my temporary neighbor, which turned out to be French and Parisian so we chatted and exchanged contacts). I had planned to do the experience today if I felt like it and have the rest of the day for myself. There is a little apprehension trying a new compound, especially one with little information available, but I still feel relaxed and confident while staying ready for surprises.
(Some of the notes might be a little repetitive or unprecise at some moments; even though confusion was largely manageable it was present at times along with a medium alteration of short-term memory similar in feeling to many psychedelics)
14:40 I measure 50mg of MXPr and pour it in a gelatin capsule that I down with some water on an empty stomach. While waiting for the effects to appear, I take a quick shower before sitting at my desk to start drawing.
15:05 As with other Arylcyclohexylamines (at least for my metabolism), the comeup is rather quick in Oral ROA. While drawing, I start to feel a light sense of dissociation and sedation (close to the come-up of more ketamine-like dissociatives) but it has a weird distinct feeling that resembles a lot, for me, the rush that smoked/vaporised cannabis can give. I start playing my dissociative playlist on the speaker and feel a light enhancement of music appreciation.
15:10 The come-up is rather intense, very rushy, I already feel more physically dissociated while the headspace starts resembling a psychedelic threshold.
The come-up is rather intense, very rushy, I already feel more physically dissociated while the headspace starts resembling a psychedelic threshold.
15:15 Effects are quickly developing, at that point they are comparable to DMXE but with a greater mental intensity and less physical “intoxication”. The general feeling of MXPr seem less chaotic than than one but also a bit more challenging/confusing mentally. I still fully control my body but I am quite slowed down and my perception of gravity starts being more affected. Still those rather simple and not detailed waving lines when I close my eyes. My heart rate feels slightly elevated and there is a light spatial disorientation when standing up.
15:20 Light nausea/stomach discomfort but not powerful enough to be really disturbing and end up subsiding rather quickly. My walking capacity is clearly altered in a similar way to 2F-DCK and DCK but with a more mechanical feeling than the more “wobbly” feeling of these for me. The effects are clearly physically sedating but there is a moderate mental stimulation giving a weird paradoxical sensation.
15:25 For the first time with dissociatives, I feel like my playlist is not adapted and more anxiogenic than pleasant. Switching to my psychedelic playlist turned out to match the vibe much more, to me. My tactile sensations are very diminished if not completely suppressed especially at the tips of my fingers, dunno how strong the analgesic effects are but tactile disconnection is clearly intense.
The quick and rushy come-up paired with the very weird and unique feeling of that substance left me a little confused.
15:30 I have a lot of struggle describing or even characterizing precisely the effects of MXPr, there are some similarities with very different molecules but the combination of these aspects is definitely a very unique feeling. I feel stoned but stimulated, lucid in my train of thoughts but with a clear effect on memory and a moderate confusion.
I feel stoned but stimulated, lucid in my train of thoughts but with a clear effect on memory and a moderate confusion.
15:35 Clear alteration of my balance and time perception dilated: the 5 minutes between each report entry feel like 10-15min as so many things are happening (in a similar fashion to psychedelics). The effects seem like they are constantly changing which make them very hard to describe. Even if my stream of thoughts feels unaltered the headspace is very close to some psychedelics like 4-HO-MET or 5-MeO-MiPT for me, with maybe a little more confusion. I can also feel a light but consistent increase in heart rate, a bit of sweating and muscle contractions that could correspond to the probable effects of MXPr on serotonin (being close chemically to MXE, DMXE and MXiPr).
15:40 The effects are constantly changing in brief cycles ranging from intensely psychedelic and chaotic to spatial and stoning (resembling DCK or THC in a more basic and slowed down dissociation). In the more intense phases it gets very hard to keep drawing as I am kind of forced into a contemplative state where physical dissociation and perspective distortions become very prominent. Another paradoxical effect is that my body feels light and really effortless to move around but gravity feels heavier especially when walking or standing.
15:45 On my piece of paper and some other surfaces I occasionally see very clear and brief vibrations, sometimes quite intense. The body high is buzzy in a similar way to MXP but much more pleasant and warm even if it sometimes can feel a bit neutral.
15:55 the effects are still as hard to describe than earlier, I feel mentally lucid and conscious that I am very physically affected and that paradoxically there is a certain degree of confusion (can be a little chaotic but staying conscious about it, absolutely no sobriety delusion despite the little variation of my thoughts patterns). The body high is pleasant, warm and euphoric, sitting on my chair there are some gravitational hallucinations almost identical in feeling to high doses of THC. In tune with the cycles I was describing earlier, the music sometimes sounds pleasant and highly detailed but also monotone and not interesting at times, sometimes within the same track. Moderate increase of urination frequency similar to alcohol and many other Arylcyclohexylamines causing dehydration, I regularly drink small amounts of water to avoid that.
16:00 Coming back from the bathroom I stare at myself in the mirror for a few minutes, the sensation of dissociation intensifies and it feels like I am watching me but from someone else’s eyes. The effects keep changing and evolving in those cycles of different intensity and nature. That constant evolution also makes it hard to sense if the effects are coming-up, peaking or coming down. The effects of MXPr orally and in that dose are for me closer to very high doses of cannabis with a psychedelic aspect than any other dissociative I have tried (DMXE shares similarities but the general experience is totally different for me).
16:05 I extend my legs on the bed to relax them for a few minutes, while staying still and eyes closed I have an intense dissociation from my environment and can feel very distinct hallucinations of distortion of my body in space (like my legs being stretched). Very weird effect but surprisingly it feels quite euphoric and funny.
16:10 I keep drawing, still that paradoxical sensation of being very affected while my stream of thoughts stays unaltered. Even if I changed position, the body distortion hallucinations are still present each time I stop moving for a while, time distortion is still important.
16:15 Dissociation is still intensifying. MXPr is definitely one of the weirdest molecules I tried feeling-wise along with Salvia. Each time I am able to characterize the effects another phase sets up with various mental and physical intensities, it kinda feels as the effects are constantly still developing without ever reaching a stable plateau.
16:20 Another more intense phase, I pass from lucid with a moderate dissociation to fully tripping in my thoughts and losing myself in the music.
16h25 Back to a more lucid phase, disorientation and confusion disappear and sedation gets more pronounced. Even if the effects are still weirdly morphing and very much present, I finally feel like I am getting less surprised, even in more intense phases (reaching plateau?). I am still very much intoxicated but I feel less confused than earlier.
16:30 MXPr, at least in this experience, feels like a weird mix between a very high dose of weed, a psychedelic for the headspace and a dissociative for the body-feelings, definitely very unique. Also very visual, of course no morphing or psychedelic geometry but with intense and consistent perspective distortions along with occasional vibrating textures and color saturation.
16:40 Like with DMXE I wouldn’t say the effects are the most facilitating for drawing, at least during the come-up and peak. There is some creativity enhancement or at least I feel there could be some but the intense sensations and confusion can make it hard to keep-on and have precise movements.
16:45 The tactile disconnection is still present and intense, balance alteration is also noted especially when walking. The quick successive intense and calmer phases have left me a little shaken (similar to the feeling I get coming out of an intense roller coaster), especially now that they are lightly less intense.
17:00 I feel the effects are starting to plateau so I decide to roll a joint of Cannabis to try the combination before the effects start coming down. I am curious about how the effects might synergize as I find similarities in feelings between MXPr and high dose of THC.
17:15 I head out on the terrasse, the weather is nice and the sun is starting to come down. That dissociative has satisfyingly long effects, at T+2h35 I am still at a solid ++ if not a +++ on Shulgin’s Rating Scale. I light up my joint and start smoking.
17:20 The colors of dusk’s shine on the buildings are saturated and intense, Clear perspective distortions. The synergy with the first effects is enjoyable, the body high is even more vibrant and euphoric than earlier, dissociation regains in intensity. The combination clearly enhances the already present psychedelic aspect of MXPr’s effects.
17:30 If DMXE for me can feel like “psychedelic alcohol” having similarities in feeling to a high dose of alcohol with a much clearer and psychedelic headspace; MXPr on its side feels like a very high dose of oral THC but with the psychedelic and dissociative aspects extrapolated. Smoking cannabis on DMXE intensifies the chaotic aspect of the experience, while combined with MXPr, the intensity is definitely enhanced but in a much more harmonious way. Nevertheless smoking at any point earlier would have made the effects hardly manageable intensity-wise, especially mentally.
17:45 Suddenly, the dissociation is accompanied by a euphoric sensation of deep peace, very pleasant but again I am left clueless in the characterization of the effects.
17:48 Sudden introspection, I feel a powerful boost of general motivation for every project and task I feel I must carry on at the moment. An intense and indescribable sensation suddenly manifests, this is a completely unique mental experience, it feels like a complete catharsis but with absolutely no revelation triggering it, or without being able to comprehend it. I feel an all-encompassing and profound satisfaction but without being able to identify the source of it.
17:55 That extremely strange and intense but pleasant sensation disappears as quickly as it appeared. It was like a 2nd peak but exceptionally brief and intense, I have trouble making sense out of it but at that point of the experience I am unable to be further surprised so I accept not understanding it and simply enjoy that absolutely unique mental experience that has been happening all along. I finish my joint and head back in to tidy the few stuff I had around and taking a hot shower to heat up. I still feel more lucid mentally than at the peak before smoking but effects are still clearly present and I can observe intense vibrations of some textures and light suppression of visual acuity.
18:10 I am out of the shower feeling more relaxed, I sit back at my desk to keep drawing. Effects are still present but way more manageable than earlier. Surprisingly I feel less dissociated after combination with cannabis, I am probably more in the come-down phase of MXPr.
18:20 I make myself a nice smoothie with fresh fruits, it’s tasty and fills my stomach up which feels nice.
18:40 Similar to the comeup, the comedown (at least from the most intense effects) is quite quick.
Similar to the comeup, the comedown (at least from the most intense effects) is quite quick.
The lingering effects feel more like a psychedelic come-down than a dissociative one, except about the anti-depressant effects I find less obvious than DMXE or even 2F-DCK but still present.
20:00 Back to baseline
This experience was as much interesting than unique and disturbing. I am curious about exploring more in depth MXPr’s effects, especially now that I have a better idea of what the effects can be for me, which hopefully will help me being able to better describe and characterize them.
If you are curious about exploring MXPr, I would say expect the unexpected. This compound was rather challenging at times to manage mentally so I don’t think it is ideal for people without a good prior experience with both dissociatives and psychedelics. As with DMXE and maybe 3-Me-PCPy I would classify this compound as in between the categories of Ketamine-like and most PCP-like dissociatives. I would be quite precautious regarding combinations, as MXPr can be quite intense (also keeping in mind it probably displays effects on Serotonin similar to MXE, DMXE, MXiPr, etc that could make some interactions dangerous).
Thanks for reading this Trip Report and I hope it could have helped some and entertained others.
Have a nice time and stay safe :)
