I am on the antidepressants lexapro (15mg) and wellbutrin (150mg XL) and also take trazodone (50mg) at night to sleep. I had previously tried a 1.6g HBWR cold water extraction 4 days ago, but since the effects were weak I took 30mg of 4-HO-MiPT a few hours into the trip.
Set & Setting: I was in a good mental state and alone in my apartment. My stomach was empty prior to this experience.
T-0:30: I took 8mg of ondansetron for nausea and 50mg of losartan to help reduce vasoconstriction.
T+0:00: I put 2.4g of powdered HBWR seeds (which should be approximately 24 seeds worth) underneath my tongue for 30 minutes and then swallowed them (sidenote: I seem to be strongly resistant to the bitterness so this was very tolerable). I did this to ensure that I got most of the active compounds absorbed in case I puked quickly. This was at 6:00 p.m. to avoid interference from the trazodone I took last night.
T+1:00: Visuals start to appear, but are weak. A feeling of sedation begins to envelop me.
T+3:00: Visuals are much stronger, although still very weak relative to other psychedelics. They looked more similar to shrooms than LSD. The sedation was very strong. My ability to control my body is significantly impaired and I move around as if I was pretty drunk. Tactile enhancement was very strong relative to other psychedelics, with my fingers being much more sensitive to touch. There was virtually no anxiety and the headspace was very comfortable, although not very deep either.
I lay down in my bed without listening to music as I’ve heard that LSA can cause waking dream-like states. Unfortunately, nothing of such happened, however, some interesting thing did occur while I was lying. My ability to filter out sounds in the environment was significantly impaired so every little noise such as the air conditioner and my computer’s fans was super noticeable. I ended up putting in my earbuds as earplugs to block this noise. I was pretty restless in my bed despite the strong sedation and was constantly shifting around and playing with my hair. I started making some weird groaning noises while I rolled around.
I found that my swallowing reflex was inhibited. Whenever spit built up or I took a drink of water, I had to exert extra mental effort to send the swallow signal, because it wasn’t happening on its own. My natural breathing pattern was also impaired. If I weren’t voluntarily trying to breathe, my lungs just wouldn’t breathe on their own, for a little while at least. If I waited long enough my lungs would eventually start breathing on their own, but at a rate a bit slower than was comfortable. So I had to voluntarily try to breathe while I lay there.
T+4:00: I eventually got out of bed, which was very difficult because of the sedation and drunk feeling.
I eventually got out of bed, which was very difficult because of the sedation and drunk feeling.
T+5:00: At this point, the trip rather suddenly shifted from being very sedating to being quite stimulating in a way similar to LSD. My ability to read subtitles improved substantially and the drunk feeling went away. I was now moving my body with much greater speed and confidence. A good amount of euphoria was present at this point and for the rest of the trip, with a tendency to start laughing for no reason.
I found that music enhancement was phenomenal. This is one of the things that my lexapro had significantly dullen in other psychedelics, so I was happy to experience it in its full force once again. There was also a prominent earworm effect where whenever I paused the music, it would repeat extra loudly and accurately in my head than when sober or on other psychedelics.
T+6:00: I felt nauseous again suddenly and puked a large amount in my trash can. I no longer felt nausea after this point. Around this time I started to get really strong hiccups. I tried a variety of breathing exercises that are supposedly able to help to no avail. A few hours later I eventually drank an electrolyte mix and this seemed to get rid of the issue for the rest of the night.
T+9:00: I took 100mg of trazodone to kill the trip and sleep, as well as my nightly dose of lexapro and melatonin (1mg).
T+24:00: I woke up after 15 hours of sleeping. Sleeping this much after a night of tripping and that dose of trazodone is pretty unusual for me. I did feel energized and relaxed for the rest of the day, however.
Overall this was a pretty enjoyable experience and this will definitely be a psychedelic I will continue to return to. This psychedelic has by far the best music enhancement out of all the psychedelics I’ve tried post-lexapro (several shroom and LSD analogs, DMT, and methallylescaline). The dosage I took is around 3x larger than it should be to have a similarly strong experience based on other trip reports I’ve read. The lexapro is responsible for some of this weakness; however, LSD is only around 40-50% weaker with the lexapro, and tryptamines are even less affected. Tolerance from previous trips also played a role, but doesn’t explain why my earlier experiences with this seed were very weak without tolerance. So I think I may have some old and weak seeds.
