Experience 1:
I stared by taking a few small hits. I almost instantly started feeling a buzzing in my body, along with a stomach ache and nausea. I closed my eyes and saw some faint colors. I hit it a few more times and I didn’t really get much more than this so, I decided to smoke some cannabis first to see if it made a difference.
I hit it a few more times and I didn’t really get much more than this so, I decided to smoke some cannabis first to see if it made a difference.
I took a few big hits. This time it worked. As with any psychedelic experience, I can’t truly put it into words. As I believe most people do, I went into the experience with certain expectations. I have watched those DMT simulation videos on youtube showing bright, angled geometric shapes constantly changing, so this is what I was expecting. With my eyes open, the best way I can explain it is that I was seeing reality exactly how it was, with no bias. What I mean by this is that humans naturally like to find patterns and categorize what we are seeing. For example, we’ll think, “This is a chair. That is a table. That is a door.” etc. as if these things were all distinct separate entities. Under the influence of DMT, I had no notion of these concepts. My visual field was not longer divided into separate things, but I saw everything as one, the energy flowing throughout itself. I wouldn’t even say I was having open eyed visuals, it was more like a filter was removed and I was seeing true reality. It was also almost like there is this whole other reality right on top of our physical reality, but we can’t normally see it. It sounds cheesy and cliche, but almost like a 4th dimension.
With eyes closed, it was also very strange. Unlike those DMT simulation videos, there were not bright geometric shapes. The closed eye visuals were much, much more round in nature than both those simulation videos and also the visuals I get on LSD. The visuals were more similar to mushrooms, though still distinct. There were many different circles that were connected that were constantly morphing and changing. I kept seeing the outline of a figure of what looked like a bald man who had his arms up, kind of like he was jogging. The second I could make out his figure, it would morph back into the constantly changing round visuals. The headspace is very strange, and I am not even going to try to describe it as you can’t. I can only say that it puts you in a powerful trance. My normal every day life, my ego, all felt so far away. As I started to come down I kept having thought of how to better and improve myself. Eventually I came down, though for the rest of the day I still felt a little weird.
Experience 2:
Unlike the first experience, the second experience was in my room at night with the lights off. Once again, I smoked some cannabis before hitting the vape. By the second hit, the body buzzing started to encompass all of my reality. Once again, the flickering round visuals began to fill all of my visual field as the light were off. This experience was more intense than the last one. I was pretty nervous at first as the experience is so intense it really takes you by surprise. But as Ram Dass taught me, I just kept repeating to myself, “I am loving awareness, I am loving awareness, I am loving awareness” and this calmed me down.
I don’t how to explain it other than really weird things kept happening to me. Things that can’t be put in to words. Not only can I accurately put it in to words, but I believe that you yourself can’t even really process what is happening to you during the experience. I could definitely see how I could freak the hell out if I wasn’t as experienced with psychedelics as I am. I do remember seeing what reminded me of the big lava oceans at the bottom of the nether in Minecraft. I also kept seeing the figure of the same man as I saw in the first trip. This time I asked him who he was, and I have a very faint memory of having thoughts come to me but I don’t remember what they were. I laid in my bed tripping out, and once again, as I began to come down, thoughts started to come to me about how I could better myself. I ended up doing some Wim Hoff breathing which actually prolonged the experience. On the come down when I was still kind of tripping but no long in a powerful trance, I noticed that I was much, much more mindful than usual and I could slip into a meditative “no-mind” state much easier.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, DMT is not necessarily what I expected it to be, though, I didn’t break through yet. Compared to LSD and Mushrooms, I would say the headspace is much stranger and the trances are stronger. The visuals are much rounder than both LSD and mushrooms but especially rounder than LSD. For me, the colors were also much less vibrant on DMT than LSD. It really doesn’t seem like I was hallucinating. I have heard people say this, and after my experiences I tend to agree, is that you can never really be fully prepared for the experience. It will always take you by surprise. If you are planning to take DMT I would say that it is imperative to be in a setting where you feel comfortable, and I would also recommend keeping a bucket by you in case you get nauseous like I did. Thank you for reading my trip report.
