I decided to try delta-8 gummies (also legal in my state). It said it would take 30 minutes for the effect to work. I took one, and then right after I met my parents and my boyfriend for lunch at a restaurant.
I felt euphoric at the beginning of lunch and was super high around dessert time. But then I started to feel anxious. My parents were sitting across from me and I remember looking at them and suddenly thinking that I would never ever see them again. It was as if I was looking at them through a dark forest and there was a sudden sense of despair.
Lunch was over and then my boyfriend and I left the restaurant. I had driven us there and he had not noticed where we had parked (the restaurant is at a mall and there's a huge parking lot). I could not find the car as I was on another planet mentally. Everything in the parking lot looked sideways and there were these white bars everywhere, as if we were walking in an underpass. After 30 minutes we found the car and I had to have him to drive.
We drove back to my house and I ran straight to the bathroom (I did not tell anyone that I had done the delta 8). In the bathroom my heart started pounding non-stop and I just stared at the floor. I was so afraid I was going to die. All I knew was that I was going to die. Eventually as the day went on I felt myself get better and I drank a lot of water. But if I had been a teenager or a middle-aged person, I probably would have died from a heart attack.
I never wanted to go through that again. I have never touched any CBD or delta 8 product again. I believe the delta 8 product was laced with something and I have never felt completely right since the incident (e.g. sometimes I find myself extremely anxious or I get racy irrational thoughts). I would not recommend any delta 8 products or any illicit drugs, especially if someone has a mental health condition. You have only one brain and it’s precious, don’t mess it up.
[Erowid Note: Some authors report suspicions that their cannabis has been 'laced' (adulterated), in some cases, presumably with PCP. While this is possible, readers should be aware that idiosyncratic response to the effects of cannabis (usually higher doses) can lead some users to presume their cannabis has been 'laced'. There is no way to know if the cannabis in the report below was adulterated or not. Reports of plant material and cannabis laced with powerful synthetic cannabinoids and other psychoactive substances became more common starting in 2007.]
