DOSE:
6 capsls oral Kava (capsule)

BODY WEIGHT: 180 lb

Dose: 2400 mg Standardized 30% kavalactones

I have been using Kava-Kava for many years now, and I find it a most delightful drug, combining the best effects of a stimulant and a tranquilizer -- say Ritalin plus Valium -- energy without edginess. However, quality and preparation are very important.

First, it is very important to obtain a standardized 'extract' (really enhanced powdered root), commonly 30% kavalactones. Tinctures are also sometimes available, but I find 400 mg capsules convenient - the above dose is 6 caps. The plain root is very variable in quality. In Fiji it may be the best, but any I have obtained in North America is crap. If it doesn't make my tongue numb, forget it.

DON'T just drop the caps, you'll most likely be disappointed. Kava is fat-soluble,like THC, so it needs to be blended with something fatty &/or a dispersant such as lecithin, found in many instant drink powders. My choice is Hot Chocolate Mix.

Put 2-3 Tbsp hot choc. mix in a smallish cup.
Pull apart & empty 6 - 400 mg caps in (more or less to taste)
Stir the dry mix.
Add very hot/boiling water, stir really well -- a mini-whisk is a big help here.
Chug - doesn't taste very good. Works in 5-10 minutes!

After trying this dose I adjust to taste -- Kava has a very wide useful/safe range. Gives me all the energy of snorting meth without any jitters - LOVE it.
