My First Few Days With Calamus Acorus
I started experimenting with Calamus a few days ago. Having researched Calamus Acorus for a month or so, I decided to finally try it, I started with low dosages. This began with taking a a tiny piece of dried root, chewing it, then spitting it out once the bitter flavor was gone. I swallowed saliva but ensured that the amount of root swallowed was kept to an absolute minimum. The root would stay between my teeth and jaw for prolonged periods of time as I chewed throughout the day.
Gradually I upped the dosage and have been getting used to its effects. I, and a friend of mine, have reported a swimmy buzz in the head as well as a subtle sense of awareness. I feel more alert, yet my heart isn't racing like it would with a strong cup of coffee.
It has also shown potential in terms of providing a sense of calmness, and I think chewing outdoors could beautifully enhance a scenic walk.
I have noticed a more active stomach with low dosages, so I'd imagine high dosages would amplify this sensation. I don't think it would be worth the risk of some potential adverse effects just for a trip, there are other things that can offer hallucinations.
In terms of getting to know this herb I'm patient, as well as open-minded to what it can offer. I wait, see and feel its effects. It's been 3 days and I am still extremely cautious about how much I take. I have been enjoying it so far, and therefore I would like to avoid an experience that might put me off trying this ever again.
All in all, this has been a very distinctive experience for myself, and I look forward very much to experiencing it outdoors.
