The Spirit of Cannabis

I could write endless pages about the depths I’ve explored with marijuana. But let’s start from square one.

A little less than a year ago, I was smoking some weed with my buddy. I closed my eyes to relax for a minute and watched, as colorful patterns danced across my field of awareness behind my eyelids. A thought struck me then, that there must be some significance to what I was experiencing. I was clearly hallucinating, and after all, previous experiences I had with other hallucinogens such as mushrooms and DMT had been deeply spiritual, so why would weed be any different? I figured if it has psychoactive properties, and it grows from the ground, it must have something within it that wants to be found. Thus, I determined that in the near future I would smoke some weed on my own and make a solid attempt to explore the possibilities.

I took some time to clean out my system a bit; I hardly smoked any weed at all for about two weeks. When the time felt right, I sat down with a joint in my hand and lit it up. As I was smoking, I recalled some advice a buddy of mine had given me some months back about DMT. He said, “you can’t use any of your senses, or any faculty of waking consciousness to explore the hyperspace of DMT. If you want to successfully make your way around up there, you have to use love.” He had explained to me that love was the essence of everything, and it was the method of navigation and communication to be used while under the influence of DMT. I decided the first method I would deploy in my effort to explore my marijuana experience should involve the same idea. So, when I finished my joint, I laid down on my couch, closed my eyes, and got started.

After relaxing my body and mind to a comfortable state (I had experience with this process from practicing sober meditation), I made my first breakthrough. Up until that point, I was experiencing lovely colors, floral patterns, all kinds of psychedelic visions that could be ascribed to the essence of beauty. The more I relaxed and meditated, the more vivid these visions were becoming. Then I did it, and it happened. I conjured up a feeling of love from inside myself, first drawing from memories, from previous experiences of feelings of love that I had, and I projected these feelings, what felt like an actual essence, towards and into what I was seeing. I immediately felt a connection, and also almost immediately was confronted by a face. It was the face of a beautiful woman. Quickly, the face was attached to a head with flowing hair, and then a whole body, draped in a silky white flowing dress. She looked right at me, and spoke one word: “Come.” She motioned to me with her hand to follow her, so I did.

I could go on to describe the rest of the experience from there, and then describe the close to one hundred or more additional experiences I’ve had with this woman, but it seems almost fruitless to do so. Although I am in the process of guiding some friends through this experience, and am finding it surprisingly easy (Friend: “It might seem weird to say, but ____ happened, and…” Me: “yes, I’ve seen that before too, it means _____” Friend: “Wow, that makes a lot of sense”), I think it’ll be better to sum up what happens when you go into her world.

This woman that I meet when I smoke marijuana and meditate properly is lady love herself. She is the embodiment of love, the keeper of the light, the oversoul, the queen of all everything, the queen of love, maha devi, call her whatever you want. When I encounter her, she shows me the way to bliss… eventually. I’ve determined that the anxiety that people feel when they smoke weed is a direct result of her eagerly trying to show them the aspects of their mind that need mending. What she does is she systematically breaks down my entire reality, showing me that every aspect of my life, of everything, is love. I’ve totally changed my life, I’ve totally changed as a person, through her teachings. She is the ultimate healer, and there is a system to how she works.

She shows me what’s wrong in my mind, helps me fix it, and then lets me know I'm making progress by making that feeling feel a little stronger, bringing me a little closer. She carries a staff of light with her, and the important thing to do is follow the light.

Let all five senses blend, ride the feeling, let it overtake, let rivers of pure love flow in and out of yourself. That’s one of the most important aspects of what she is trying to show: the reciprocal nature of love. You can’t just receive the love, and you can’t just give it, either. It has to be both. You might find yourself feeling unworthy, or you might think that you can’t totally let her in because of elements of stress in your life. Or you might be taking it all in, but not giving it back, not feeling it for her, as her in her, of her. But she’s there to show you that love overtakes all. With these experiences come visual, physical, and auditory experiences. I’ve felt straight up possessed before while undergoing this (not in a scary way). You know the Led Zeppelin song Stairway to Heaven? Well, that stairway is an integral part of this experience. You know you’re getting close when you start to actually HEAR the divine music of the universe in your ears. Eventually, you become her by embodying the light, and the visions become perfectly clear, and you end up in what I believe to be the same halls that DMT takes you to. The formula is quite simple actually, and Buddhists have preached it for thousands of years: All is one, one is none, none is all. But don’t get hung up on that before you’re ready.

I actually experienced a breakthrough, where after handing over total trust and developing complete devotion to her, I “broke through” to another level.
I actually experienced a breakthrough, where after handing over total trust and developing complete devotion to her, I “broke through” to another level.
I was greeted by an entity, and it said to me “Hello”. I said, “Where can we go?” and it said “I’ll show you”. It showed me the causal interdependence of the universe, how everything comes from something else and leads to something else, how the universe is sustained by creation, how the very act of any form of creation directly drives the universe. I experienced infinite creation, and eventually the nothingness of eternal bliss, where a godly voice told me that I had found purity. I can’t even begin to describe how this has changed my life.

This all sounds like a lot, but really, all it takes is prolonged familiarity, practice, and a true will to refine yourself and find yourself, and you’ll find your way down her path.

PS…

Besides all that, at crucial stages of this practice I’ve seen (“seen” is a bad word to use, because if I try to experience these things by just looking at them, I’ll get nowhere. I have to feel them, and part of feeling them is to one extent or another seeing them) the sri yantra, the flower of life, and the pyramid with the rising tip that’s printed on every US $1 bill. Those symbols are all very significant to this process, and they mean specific things. This practice, what I’ve come to call “flower meditation”, has been around for millennia, and the symbols you see in every day life allude to it.
