A Quick Lesson in Opiates

My first experience with painkillers started when my mom had to have a surgery. Initially, the thought that she would need painkillers had never crossed my mind, but the day after her surgery she came home from the grocery store with a prescription. After some closer inspection, I learned that these pills had hydrocodone in them.

Let me give you some background info about myself. I've had quite a few good experiences with weed, but I don't actually smoke that much, as I can never find time for it. Usually that's my choice; I prefer pot over alcohol (I hardly ever drink), and I would like to try acid or shrooms one day. But I figured, hey, it's a free high, go for those hydros, because I'd heard good things about them. So I took 3 and hid them.

After some research, I learned about the acetaminophen (same stuff that's in Tylenol) also contained in the pills. It can be very harmful, actually more dangerous than the hydrocodone itself, so I figured that I shouldn't take all at once. When I took the pills, I knew about the method used to separate the two ingredients, called Cold Water Extraction, but I didn't have time for that. I crushed two of them (10mg) and mixed them with water, which I drank before breakfast, around 6:35 am (hydros+water+empty stomach=effect as strong as snorting, without dangerous chemicals going up the nose). I took care to try not to drink the undissolved powder at the bottom, as it is mostly acetaminophen, which doesn't dissolve as easily as hydrocodone.

About 5 minutes or so, I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and I started getting the shakes, but I wasn't really that high. As I finished breakfast, I noticed a nice buzzed sort of effect in my limbs, but nothing too crazy. The experience peaked within half an hour, but even then I just had a buzz compared to some other highs, but it was still very pleasant feeling without making me function any differently.

After getting to school, the high had almost completely worn off, and at 7:30, almost an hour after taking the first two pills, so I crunched the last pill, which I'd saved, in half and chased it with some water. This made me feel nice again, but not as buzzed as before. By about 8:30 or so I was back to normal. Also I would like to note that around 11:00, I started feeling pain in my stomach. I assumed it was my liver, which acted up because of the acetaminophen. Lunch, less than an hour later, made me feel better, so there was no problem.

In conclusion, my experience with hydros was mediocre at best. I liked the mellow stoning effect, but it was nowhere near the sort of 'earth-shattering-orgasm-in-a-hottub-all-over-your-body' effect some would have you believe it is. If I ever want to do hydros again, I'll probably take 4 instead of 2, after doing the Cold Water Extraction method. However, it's pretty unlikely I would try them again, because that would mean buying them, and I would rather buy pot than hydros. But since the opportunity for a free high presented itself this one occasion, I took it.
