“A Comparison of the Effects of 4-Bromo-2,5-Dimethoxyamphetamine (DOB), 3,4,5-Trimethoxyamphetamine (TMA), Para-Methoxyamphetamine (PMA), D-Amphetamine (A) and LSD in Nontolerant and LSD tolerant Chronic Spinal Dogs”.
Pharmacologist. 1977;19(2):230.
Abstract
Single doses of 4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyamphetamine (DOB) (50 mcg/kg) and 3,4,5-trimethoxy-I-amphetamine (TMA) (2.0 ma/ kg) markedly facilitated the flexor reflex, elicited stepping, increased the skin twitch reflex latency, produced a modest mydriasis, whining and tracking or staring. These effects are characteristic of LSD (15 mcg/kg). A (2.0 mg/kg) and paramethoxyamphetamine (PMA) (2.0 mg/kg) modestly facilitated the flexor reflex, produced marked mydriasis, bradycardia, and prolonged the skin twitch latency but did not elicit stepping. However, PMA did not evoke A-like stereotypy. All 5 drugs increased respiration and temperature. Spinal dogs were made tolerant to 30 mcg/kg/day of LSD. Tolerance developed to its physiological and behavioral effects. There was no cross tolerance to A or PMA. Cross tolerance developed to all of DOB. s effects. Except for TMA's actions on pupils and the skin twitch reflex, cross tolerance developed to its physiological and behavioral effects. It was concluded that DOB had typical LSD-like properties, PMA is primarily Alike and TMA is predominantly LSD-like with some A-like effects.
