“Deaths attributed to an 'ecstasy' overdose”.
Med J Aust. 1996 Jan 1;164(1):56.
Abstract
Recently, a young Sydney woman's much publicised death was attributed to an 'ecstasy' (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine) overdose. Although the exact circumstances were unclear from media reports, it has been shown that past deaths (and perhaps other metabolic effects) from this drug are subsequent to hyperpyrexia Dantrolene sodium (Dantrium, Norwich Eaton) is known to reverse malignant hyperpyrexia and has been shown to reduce pyrexia subsequent to 'ecstasy' overdose, thus preventing death and other undesirable consequences.
