“Introductory remarks”.
The Use of LSD in Psychotherapy. 1960;p7-23.
Abstract
In this introduction to the transactions of the conference, various participants reported how and why they became interested in LSD. This chapter is not suitable for abstraction. The following remarks may be of particular interest. . Van Rhjin believes that mass therapy would be the solution in which every patient with a neurosis could get LSD treatment and work out his problems largely by himself. . Ditman gave LSD without psychotherapy in an alcoholism research clinic. . Fremont-Smith believes that model psychosis is one more opportunity to observe personality reactions. . Hoffer studied a group of psychopathic alcoholics: 60 were treated with LSD once, half of them were no longer alcoholics (5-year follow-up). . Chandler used LSD in neurotics (20-40 sessions) with beneficial results.
