Abstract
Benactyzine (200 mg.) caused intense and varied optical and some acoustic hallucinations and catatonic symptoms lasting 12 hours. While after benactyzine, the autonomic and motor symptoms predominated; in the same subjects LSD (100 mcg.) and Mescaline (500 mg.) produced mainly psychic symptoms. . The excretion of 5-hydroxyindole acetic acid was reduced by benactyzine and not influenced by LSD. . The excretion of 17-ketosteroids was reduced by benactyzine and increased by LSD.
