Abstract
Five groups of 5 normal subjects were given 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 mcg/kg BOL-148 [orally?]. Cholinesterase activity in the blood was determined in two subjects from each group. The psychophysiological effects were observed in all cases. . There were no significant changes in either true or pseudo-cholinesterase. Psychophysiological effects were reported after as little as 32 mcg/kg and increased in severity with increasing dosage. The psychic effects were qualitatively the same as those elicited by LSD but were milder. . Ten subjects were given BOL-148 (16-128 mcg/kg) one hour prior to 1-2 mcg/kg LSD [orally?] to detect any blocking effect. . BOL-148 blocked the effects of LSD although the effect of high doses of BOL-148 tended to obscure the results. In no instance was complete protection obtained. 32-64 mcg/kg BOL-148 appeared to be the most effective dose in blocking the effects of LSD without producing significant effects itself.
