“Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD-25): XXIV. The response index as a measure of threshold activity of psychotropic drugs in man.”.
J.Psychol.. 1959;48:65.
Abstract
The effects of LSD and related compounds taken orally were studied in five non-psychotic subjects. A quantitative comparison was made by determining the response index (ratio of number of responses to a questionnaire to the dose in mcg.). The questions in the questionnaire were so constructed that a positive response, independent of the intensity of the reaction, constituted one response. The relative potency of the compounds was as follows: .
  • LSD (standard) = 100
  • ALD-52 = 91
  • OML-632 = 66
  • MLD-41 = 36
  • LSM-775 = 11
  • DAM-57 = 11
  • BOL-148 = 7
  • LPD-824 = 5
  • LAE-32 = 3
  • UML-491 = 1
. It is thought this constitutes a reliable method of comparing the psychotomimetic effects of drugs in human beings.
