Abstract
Review of hallucinogenic substances with particular reference to LSD based on the literature (64 references) and personal experience with hallucinogens given to over 300 volunteers and patients over a period of 3 years. . A highly personalized, composite picture of the state elicited by LSD is given. This is based on several reports. . Thirty writers, artists and musicians who took LSD and mescaline commented on the similarity of the drug- induced state to what they felt might be an essential matrix from which the imaginative process derives.
