Abstract
LSD labeled with C-14 was given i.p. and i.v. to rats. Some radioactivity was found in all tissues. The brain concentration was lowest, amounting to about 0.010f the administered dose. A similar pattern of distribution was found in the cat. . About 800f the radioactivity administered was excreted in the bile as four distinct compounds. This radioactivity was eliminated in the feces in about 60 hours. Of the four compounds excreted in the bile, the two compounds which accounted for most of the radioactivity (M-1 and M-2) appeared to be only slightly changed from LSD. A third compound (M-3) resembled LSD in some respects but not in others. The fourth compound appeared to be an artefact. . No method has yet been found adequate for isolating LSD or its metabolites from animal tissues. (See 73, 192, 518)
