“The effect of psychotropic substances on nerve and neuroglia cells developed in tissue culture”.
Psychotropic drugs. 1957;p478.
Abstract
Degeneration of proliferating tissue was produced by LSD, chlorpromazine and 5-hydroxytryptamine but not by epinephrine, acetylcholine, atropine and pilocarpine. . LSD caused rapid growth of cells. Reserpine inhibited the growth of neuroglial cells. Chlorpromazine caused degeneration of cells. . The movements of pulsation neuroglia were enhanced by LSD and 5-hydroxytryptamine, inhibited by chlorpromazine and unaffected by reserpine.
