Abstract
The most interesting pharmacological action of LSD is its inhibition of the effects of 5-hydroxytryptamine, which may be a neurohumoral transmitter substance. The inhibition may be competitive on an antimetabolite basis. Speculations on such concepts have led to much research. The most interesting aspect of reserpine is its relationship to brain 5-hydroxytryptamine. The relatinship between LSD, 5-hydroxytryptamine and reserpine is intriguing but many points still need clarification.
