“Hydroxytryptamine: a neurohormone in the invertebrates.”.
Fed. Proc.. 1954;13:162.
Abstract
Mytolon, a neuromuscular blocking agent, blocked acetylcholine inhibition of the heart of Venus mercenaria but left the sensitivity to hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) unaltered. LSD or ergot alkaloids blocked hydroxytryptamine but did not affect the response to acetylcholine.
