Horizons returns again in October 2014! This is an annual gathering that examines the role of psychedelics in science, healing, culture, and spirituality. Held at the beautiful Judson Memorial Church, tickets are $100 per person for the 2+ day event, with student and hardship discounts available.

The Multidisciplinary Associations of Psychedelic Discourse After attending the Breaking Convention conference, Erik Davis critiques the state of psychedelic discourse. He dives into what constitutes multidisciplinarity and how the institutionalization and militarization of psychedelic therapy might shift the social, cultural, and political meaning of the psychedelic experience away from its traditional spirit.

Teafaerie: Let There Be Light On her way to a soul-searching first encounter with ibogaine, the Teafaerie finds herself taking ayahuasca with a community of people previously unknown to her. Over the two day course of hoasca journeying in a light-filled room, the Teafaerie is inspired to evangelize for the value of sunlight on the psychedelic experience.

Erowid Android Navigator App 1.1.2 Excellent Erowid volunteer Disbliss has been working to improve the Erowid Navigator for Android. After accidentally running afoul of Google Play's technical terms (by including a Donate button pointing at Erowid), we had to relaunch the app under a new name and URL. Give the new one a try and leave feedback about what features you'd like to see added!

In the United Kingdom, it has been technically illegal for the last few years to distribute foil for the purpose of smoking recreational drugs. This month, the UK's Home Office issued a notification newly authorizing distribution of foils as a harm reduction measure. (See: http://ow.ly/AyMHN)

Evidence shows that injecting drugs is more dangerous than smoking or vaporizing, and thus encouraging IV drug users to smoke their drugs (off uncontaminated metal foils) reduces disease transmission health risks. Though there were no prosecutions of harm reduction groups for selling smoking foils, some stopped offering them due to the Home Office's stated opposition. Exchange Supplies continued sales throughout the UK's previous rules against it.
