At the apartment, the two individuals whipped out a small bag and gave me two hits of the end of a key in each nostril. Almost instantly I felt completely sobered-up from the alcohol and within a few minutes a rush came over me almost like goose bumps traveling from the back of my neck to the top of my head.
I felt this sense of excitement (euphoria) and a lowering of inhibitions (similar to alcohol). It was great! I chatted (quite rapidly) with the two people I was with over a course of a few hours—doing subsequent bumps of more cocaine over that time-span. After hanging out for a while, they drove me back to my hotel and I attempted to go to sleep because I had to check out of my hotel at 11 am and catch a flight back home (I did not find my way back into my bed until about 7:30 am.). After trying to slow my breathing, I feel asleep for a few hours and woke back up for my trip home.
I went home and forgot all about using cocaine. Over the summer after this vacation, I began smoking marijuana quite regularly (cocaine was actually the gateway drug in my case I guess) and was pretty satisfied with the high it gave me. Also, I didn’t know anyone back home that I could get cocaine from. However, occasionally I would be reminded of how good I felt when I used the drug and how I would like to do more again someday. After watching a favorite show of mine which has some intense cocaine-use scenes and the movie Scarface, I had a growing itch do get a hold of some blow.
I found a source after a little seeking (at this time I had just started graduate school). I bought about 2 grams and it was of high quality (better than my first experience). It was in compressed rock form and of a pure white pearly color which usually indicates good quality. I chopped it up with a credit card and did one rail. Within 2 minutes, my entire face went numb (since it took a little longer for the numbness to onset—that generally indicates pretty good purity). Within 5 minutes I started to feel the rush of euphoria but it was a gentle rush and I did not feel jittery. It was like a ‘controlled’ rush. It was an amazing feeling. My entire nose and cheekbones were numb and I loved the ‘drip’ down the back of my throat. Now having a reliable source of unadulterated cocaine at a wholesale price (I was good friends with the person that was supplying me), I felt inclined to keep buying more. I would usually buy 2-3 grams at a time and this would last me about 2 weeks. I felt like I could control my usage of it and keep it purely recreational use (just for fun on the weekends to unwind from work and school). So far, I have been able to keep it like this. I have finished my first semester of graduate school with a 4.0 and I have been able to maintain my normal, daily routines. Only a select few people know of my usage of cocaine and for those who do not know, they would never guess it based on my way of living.
Cocaine is very fun—especially to do with a few people. However, I can see how it would be addictive. Also, I have done a great deal of research on cocaine so I know the health risks. Honestly, I have not had really any negative side-effects from cocaine-use. If I binge on it during a Friday or Saturday night, it makes me feel sort of hung-over and lethargic/depressed the following day. However, these feelings usually last no longer than a typical hang-over from alcohol. I consider cocaine a definite step-up from Marijuana (it’s a completely different drug). However, I also do not feel like it’s nearly as risky as other hard drugs such as heroin, crank, ecstasy, etc. I have really found that purity is important. As I have said, cocaine is fun but one must be cautious about this drug. Although it is not nearly as powerful as amphetamines as far as a CNS stimulant, it can still cause addiction. I have found that occasional use a few times a year has not been a problem for me. However, everybody is different and some people just can’t keep from becoming infatuated with this drug.
