Through happy coincidence I discovered that [a] wormwood (Artemisia pycnocephala) grew wild in my back alley and two varieties of sagebrush grew in a spot I camp at anually. I personally picked and dried both as I feel a thing holds more meaning if done personally.

Today, feeling the need for a toke and having no cannabis I decided to try something a little different. I set the white sage aside for smudging at a later date as I could identify it exactly and knew there was not much point in smoking it. I decided to smoke the feather-like silver sagebrush instead. I cannot positively identify it
I cannot positively identify it
but believe the variety to be Artemisia tripartita. It grew as long thin sticks about 12 inches high and the leaves were very fine and feather like.

For dosage references, my pipe has a bowl roughly the size of a thimble. I smoked in my bedroom at home, in a comfortable and unhurried state of mind.

I first smoked a bowl of the Artemisia pycnocephala, but had felt nothing but a little calmer after 15 minutes and decided to leave the rest for a later date. I got much more noticeable effects from the sagebrush.

I smoked one bowl of the sagebrush and began to feel effects halfway through. My mind wandered and I forgot various things I was looking for while I browsed the web. Eventually I stopped everything and simply sat and wandered down different thought-paths. I felt disassociated from my body, though I could tell where I was. It took some effort to do simple things like drink a glass of water. I felt very peaceful and introspective, in a sleepy sort of way. Touching my skin felt like touching someone else, it took a little while for the sensation to register. The effects are slowly fading, and roughly half an hour later I am in a calm not-quite-baseline state.

Overall this was a positive experience, It would be good to try again when I am in a restless or upset state as a sedative. I like that there seem to be no bad aftereffects. There seem to be no bad aftereffects other than a cool feeling to my skin.
