I have found the perfect way to get that high without getting the addiction. The operative word here is savor rather than gorge.

I smoke no more than two cigarettes a day AT MOST, and have done for the past six months, and each time I get an incredible buzz! a very short yet intense feeling of euphoria - so much so that I have to lay down for about a minute as the buzz flashes through my entire body!

It's the same with Codeine; I do a cold water extraction every three weeks of about 300mg taken with 60mg of Diazepam.
Within about 20 that calm, quiet euphoria washes over me and grows for about two to three hours. After that I drift into a blissful sleep, and feel calm and peaceful until the following night.

Again, I have never increased the dose or the frequency, and the experience is wonderful every time. There is always the temptation to do more, but I would rather enjoy quality rather than addiction and habituation.

The bottom line is: I'm healthy, I work out five times a week, and I consider these wonderful highs as an added dimension to my life. I have also stopped for two months when I had a bad bout flu, and felt no craving or withdrawal.
