I had high hopes for modafinil. I ordered Adrafinil from France years ago and it just gave me a headache. I then ordered modafinil from India years ago (forgot the brand) and it barely had any effects. I decided that perhaps the pills I tried were subpar and felt it wrong to disregard this substance as not being worthwhile without further probing into its effects. I went to a doctor and obtained modafinil, picked it up from the local pharmacy.

On an empty stomach that night, I took 1x 200mg tablet. After about an hour I noticed that I was somewhat euphoric but primarily awake (or maybe euphoric simply because it was working.). I wasn't stimulated like I would be on amphetamine or Ritalin, but it felt useful. I try to avoid these stimulants because of their crash, but modafinil felt 'clean' rather than speedy. I just felt awake. That's it. The need to sleep was turned off. I also had improved memory but it was not significant. These effects lasted 4-5 hours with no crash or difficulty falling asleep.

All's good right? Two days later I was to stay up to finish some work, and decided to take 400mg. Nothing happened and I fell asleep an hour after taking the dose. No trouble sleeping, nothing significant to report the following day. I assumed maybe I didn't wait long enough for it to reach a high enough concentration to achieve any clinical effects. Two days later I woke up and took 200mg. Nothing happened the entire day. After an hour or two I forgot I had taken anything. Weird, I thought. I wasn't mixing with any other drugs, no tolerance, etc.

Since than, I have tried 100mg (broke pill in half), 200mg, 300mg, 400mg with zero effects whatsoever. I don't get it. I gave one pill to a friend and he loved it. A month later I gave him another pill, same dose, and he felt nothing after waiting for 2-3 hours then just went to bed.

In our case, it might be due to the fact that we're used to adderall and expect that type of stimulation on modafinil. Or maybe modafinil needs to build up in your system. Oddly enough, I haven't taken it daily for longer than two days even though that's what the doc prescribed. I expected it to be a use-as-needed drug.

If the drug has any effects, they are not very different or any more intense than taking 1-2 grams of piracetam. YMMV. Due to the positive reports of this drug, I will give it another chance in due time. Perhaps stay awake for 2-3 days and then take it to see if it helps.
