DOSE:
250 mg oral Methadone (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 195 lb
Up until 4 yrs ago I was a constant abuser of oxycontin, norco and heroin. I had an unbelieveable tolerance to pain pills and still do. 44 months ago I got clean and checked into a methadone clinic. Within a year I earned my takehomes and found that 140mg/day was a good stable dose that worked for me for years
140mg/day was a good stable dose that worked for me for years
. I began weaning myself off about 2 yrs ago and when I got down to 45mg, the pain in my legs and feet (injuries from a car accident in '02) was too great and I had to stop titrating. I held at 45mg and within a few months got into a pain mgmt clinic as opposed to an addictions clinic so that my insurance would pay for it because at the methadone clinic (addiction ctr) I paid $13/day and drove 55 miles roundtrip.

Back then, taking a double dose was nothing, but NOW (2 yrs later) it's a lot different. I took 25 of the 10mg tablets after I got my script filled yesterday and I was as wrecked as I used to be when I took 25 of the 40mg ones (4x more). Yesterday, my eyes were going straight out to the sides (opposite of crossing) to the point that I had to make sure that nobody saw me or else they would've thought that I was high on heroin. This lasted over 12 hrs, just like it had in the past when I took high doses.

So, the reason that I'm writing this is because my tolerance to oxy and morphine hasn't changed over the years, but when my body gets used to a lot less methadone per day, I could OD a lot easier because it takes considerably less to completely wreck me.

I can't even tell you how many times I took over 250mg and hardly felt anything...then I stay on 45mg/day for 2 yrs, take 250mg again, and it was just like taking 1,000mg. It almost scared me, but I felt way too good. I itched both my feet open and I'm still VERY itchy 40 hrs later. I just confined myself to my room and watched tv. I don't remember anything that I was watching. I kept nodding off and passing out in weird positions in my bed for hours upon hours upon hours. It felt so good.

I'm just VERY glad that I didn't take anymore than what I did. The results could've been disasterous and I am a methadone advocate that wants to see the public be as educated as possible on this. I might not have lost my tolerance to other opioids, I DID lose my tolerance to methadone (which is a great thing, just needs to be remembered).
