I got this prescribed by my psychiatrist because of debilitating GAD, depression, panic attacks, racing thoughts, occasional rage and dissociative symptoms. SSRI's didn't do it for me and although my daily dose of Xanax (1.5mg) does help to counter the panic attacks, it does next to nothing for my other issues.

So, along with my Xanax, the doc prescribed me 50mg of Seroquel XR which I took yesterday evening for the first time. I took the peach colored pill at 10.45 pm and continued to work on my pc for another 20 minutes, then I went to bed and grabbed a book.

30 minutes after ingestion I noticed a slight drowsiness but I was still able to concentrate on my book. One hour after ingestion the Seroquel really kicked in and I had to put away the book. I watched some tv for a while but my eyes became too heavy so at midnight I went to sleep. I had a good night sleep but I was far from being 'unconscious' in the way you read in some other reports. I woke up at 8 am to go to the bathroom and I felt somewhat groggy but luckily no signs of vertigo, slurred speech or rubber legs. I went to sleep for another hour and got up at 9 to take my Xanax, a smoke and some coffee.

At this point I actually felt pretty relaxed; kinda stoned and I noticed that the anxiety and the racing, negative thoughts were way in the background. At 10.30 a.m. I got dressed and went outside to buy something just to test my alertness. Well, I didn't get ran over by a car, I didn't move sluggish and I made it back home safely and refreshed.

The rest of the day I kept feeling kinda sleepy but in a positive way and I found out that if I fought it and stayed active, I was rewarded with a mild euphoria. I played guitar for 30 minutes straight and to my great relief, Seroquel also hadn't affected my playing abilities.

Now, 19 hours after ingesting I feel somewhat foggy but I feel good and I am still able to think clearly and to type this. So my first experience with Seroquel is positive and I have good hope that it will liberate me from my dreadful anxiety and negative thoughts.

However, I don't see any recreational value in it. This is powerful stuff and only meant to be used by people who have a serious mental illness.
