Getting to know the Vincas.

I am known to a group of friends as a cannabis enthusiast and advocate. I've dabbled a bit in ethnogens, especially prizing Amanita Muscaria. I am short in stature, thin (~125 lbs).

Two months ago, it was brought to my attention that a flower that grows commonly in this area can be used for recreational purposes, I was uncertain to any information about this plant, and was also without a proper identification. I was given the task of finding more information about this plant based on a vague discription of habitat, color, and a note about the taste of the plant, I was told that it was sweet. After doing a bit of research, I was all but certain that the plant that was described to me was periwinkle. I had read a few descriptions of periwinkle being used as a drug, and was interested to give it a shot, after all, why not? Driving past a neighbor's yard I noticed what appeared to be a poppy plant, a few days later, I walked past the garden in question to get an identification. As it turns out, the plant I saw was indeed a poppy, however, it was of the 'useless' variety. There were a few children playing in the yard the garden was in, and I decided to keep walking, so as not to arouse suspicion. On my trek, I saw what appeared to be a periwinkle. I had read about periwinkle, and as far as I knew, it was divided into two major groups (Vinca) major and minor. Based on what I had read, the major variety was distinguishable from the minor variety based on the leaves -- the leaves of the major variety had a small 'fringed' margin on the outside of them. Going off of my basic knowledge, I concluded, that the plant I had discovered was more-than-likely 'Vinca Minor', or Lesser Periwinkle, a brief query via the internet had confirmed my suspicion. I had only picked one flower, and decided to eat it, knowing that I could go back at any time to grab more of this flower or foliage.

After eating one flower, no change in perception was noticed, I was suffering a nasty cold at the time, and the cough associated with the cold seemed to subside, although I cannot definately attribute this to the periwinkle.

Even though I had not had any success with one flower, I decided to try again, after all, it's free. I returned to the bed in which the plant was growing and took four leaves. This time, I planned to smoke all of the foliage to see what would happen.

Nothing profound, walking seemed 'clumsier' than it generally would. This may very well have been placebo. While smoking a cigarette, things seemed somewhat new, may also have been placebo. None of this was profound.
