Chloral Experiment

I had heard about these things called knock out drops, or chloral hydrate, supposed to be like date rape drugs (knock-you-out type of substance). Then I found this chemical supplier who had chlorbutanol or 1,1,1-Trichloro-2-methyl-2-propanol hemihydrate in the HCl salt form. So, I looked it up and found out that it was along the same lines as chloral hydrate, only it resulted in less GI irritation. So I decided to try it out.

First Experiment

The website said that this is used as a fish tranquilizer and that a good human dose was any where from 0.25 to 1.25 gms. Since I haven't heard of anyone trying it, I ingested 0.25 gms in a gelcap to be safe...waited 20 minutes...nothing (this stuff is supposed to take effect within 15 to 20 minutes). So I took another 0.25 gms...waited another 20 minutes...still nothing. I just feel a little drowsy but I can't tell if its from the chlorbutanol or the fact that it's 2:00 in the morning, so I go to sleep disappointed.

Second Experiment

It was 12:00 in the morning. I ingested 1 gram of chlorbutanol in a gelcap and wait 20 minutes. I feel a little drowsy, so I know there's some potential. I ingest an additional gram of the substance and wait 20 minutes. Okay, now we're getting somewhere. We're at T + 40 now. I don't feel necessarily 'drowsy,' but more of a 'spacey,' 'out of it' feeling. I can definitely see how, with a few drinks, someone could pass out on this stuff.

Also, one thing I noticed is that my saliva tastes like lake water or that I've been in the pool too long and drank too much pool water. During both of these experiment I've constantly checked my heart bpm which stayed normal. I'm also diabetic: blood sugars remained normal.

One things I noticed however is, even at low doses, I had to think for a second to remember what I was doing. It's now T + 1:30 as I write this and I have had to constantly correct typos, especially 'r's where I meant to type 'f's. Anyway I feel that there is potential with this.

Peace
