I was at a punk show in Baltimore when a friend of mine, who is tripping on acid at the time, offers to front me an 8th of mushrooms. I had done mushrooms before, as well as acid, weed, dope, e, and lots of pills. This was only a few days after eating some before and having a few freakouts in Rehobeth Beach, but my mind was still on vacation, so I thought, sure.

I ate six of the freshest, bluest mushrooms I have ever had, and watched the bands, waiting for them to kick in. A stoner metal band played, and during their set I began to trip. Their set was awesome, and rock and roll is my favorite thing to experience on mushrooms.

After this, a thrash band from Kentucky played. Their singer cracked a bottle over his head and began bleeding profusely, swinging blood on the audience from his hair, and dripping it all over the floor. Needless to say, this was the most blood I had ever seen while on any kind of trip. At first, I thought the blood was fake, and was just a silly stage antic.

After the show, my friend asked the singer of the band if he should get tested. The man responded by saying 'If you want, I never have been'. This whole night was terrifying, and I had gone to the show alone. I wanted to leave the show and atmosphere which was intimidating and unwelcoming, unlike most shows I go to.

I got in my car to drive home, which was a stupid idea. I decided to try to drive on I-95 to get home (I live about 30 minutes northwest of Baltimore) instead of I-83. I began driving and got lost somewhere in South Baltimore, which is an area I'm not all to familiar with. I saw a sign saying to 95, and decided to follow it. At this point I'm peaking.

I forgot where I was going, then saw another sign and remembered. I began driving in that direction, and one way or another, got headed right for the Harbor Tunnel.

By the time I realized where I was going, there were no exits, and I realized I was going to have to drive through this tunnel tripping balls on some of the best mushrooms I have ever eaten.

There I was, driving through the tunnel. It was unnerving to say the least. I knew there was a toll at the other end, and thought I did not have money to pay it. That is when for the first time in my life, I really believe I felt true terror. I was certain I was going to get pulled over and taken to jail, when I realized a bag of change in my glove box, for this precise kind of emergency.

I made it through the tunnel and to the tollbooth. The lady there was very ugly, like a troll. I handed her a $1 bill and a bunch of change, which she drops over the ground. There I am, tripping balls, immediately after driving through the Harbor tunnel, with three or more cars behind me, stopped at the tollbooth. I began grabbing change out of the bag and saying frantically, 'how much more do you need? How much more do you need?'

Well, I made it past that obstacle. Time to drive on 95.

This was terrifying. It's not the way I usually get home from Baltimore, but for some reason I thought it would be quicker tonight. I saw signs to get onto 695 (the road I needed to get on to), but for some reason, I thought the exits to get on it were blocked off.

I began driving in a blocked off lane, because I thought if I didn't, I would have to drive all the way to NY on 95, and I didn't have enough gas to do that. Quickly, I got out of the blocked off lane and onto the actual exit I needed to get on. No music, whether metal, classical, or rock, was anything short of frightening to me at the time. I kept stereo on low, but the sounds of the road weren't welcoming either.

I made it home alive, and then proceeded to take a bath in the dark. This is something trippy I have found myself enjoying doing for the past few years.

For the rest of the night, I just played guitar and eventually slept. The table in my basement formed designs in the wood and moved in patterns. This was a crazy day.
