I was given this drug as an alternative because it was supposedly less-addictive. After taking 40 mg, I was sitting in a room and someone began speaking. After awhile I answered vocally, after awhile I had the horrific realization that I was answering MYSELF!This scared me as I have never had any experiences like this, even with LSD years ago (I swore of off pyschedelics in '84)-For informational purposes, except for mild depression, I've never had any psychiatric issues... I went to bed. Later that night, it's hard to tell for sure ,but some hours. I heard male voices downstairs and only my girlfriend and I were home...The next morning my girl said she found me wandering the small basement with a butcher knife, looking for intruders She asked for the knife which I immediately gave her. Then I went to bed buthad a distinct hallucination that she had taken my temperature and found it dangerously high, so being a nurse, she put me in the bathtub with cold water and ice. I recall every detail of this, but the next morning she swears it never happened(Except the knife part). The stuff scared me so much I the Ambien out....As an addendum, my 65 year old father was given the same thing and after taking 5 mg my mother was unable to awaken him from watching TV and when she'd push him all he'd respond was with incoherent gibberish. She called me and the two of us just barely got him to bed. Needless to say, we threw the pills out.
