This may not be printed, being a third-hand report from a school where my mother works, but it is true and could have happened to anyone. A girl from that school had been abusing Coricidin to get high. How long she had been using and how much she had taken that particular day is unknown, but her friend was aware of her drug habits, so let us surmise she had been using intermittently for at least a month.

While running laps in gym class, this girl suffered a grand mal seizure. Apparently it was quite gruesome, running the full hog from convulsions to jaw-clenching. Her friend chose this moment to confess that the victim had deliberately overdosed on Coricidin. The girl survived, but the incident was too recent to tell what kind of brain damage she may have suffered from the seizure.

If you absolutely must abuse drugs for recreational purposes, stay within your limits. Research the chemical and find out what it is, how it works, and what the mean dose is. It is entirely possible that the girl involved had not been getting as 'high' as she was used to and increased her dosage, not taking into account that the body's capacity for any chemical remains the same whether you enjoy the effects or not.

I also cannot stress enough the importance of having someone around who knows what drugs you are taking and how much. Had there not been someone there to give that information, the girl in this story could very well have died or suffered considerable brain damage. Make sure the person or persons you are tripping with know, at the very least, what to do in the event that one of you becomes incapacitated.
