Flying Through Black Space
Alcohol
Citation:   wasabi. "Flying Through Black Space: An Experience with Alcohol (exp51768)". Erowid.org. Nov 24, 2017. erowid.org/exp/51768

DOSE:
750 ml oral Alcohol - Beer/Wine (liquid)
BODY WEIGHT: 75 kg
I am a 19 year old male, and I do not consume any medication regularly.

On approximately 7 seperate occasions, during nights of drinking, I have reached a certain point in my alcohol consumption (all of these occasions without having consumed ANY other drug), in which I begin to 'fly'. That is, when I close my eyes, I feel a strong physical sensation of travelling forward through the black space surrounding me. This point of drunkedness I would describe as intoxicated - for example, a 750ml bottle of port (approx. 16% alcohol) consumed over a period of 3-4 hours would be a good approximation of the quantity of alcohol that I would need to have consumed. This physical feeling of flying is always accompanied by a very strong sense of pleasure and euphoria. When I am in this state I feel very seperated from the world around me - similar to how I have felt on some occasions coming back to reality from a nitrous experience, and I find it very annoying to be disturbed (n.b that this flying with alcohol occured for the first time at a point in my life when I had never consumed any kind of illicit drug).

When I close my eyes and absorb myself in this feeling, the feeling is always growing, and after say 10 seconds, the strength of the feeling may have multiplied many times, but the growing keeps on going, even if it may have slowed down. This growing sensation feels like I'm heading towards something very potent, in many way, like a sexual climax. Since when I was a child, I have had technique that helps me get to sleep while I am lying in bed, in which I imagine that my bed is spinning, or rocking back and forth in the air, and this combined with a slow breathing pattern often feels like the bed is actually moving - I have given this example both to illustrate what the flying feeling is like, and to maybe partially explain why this flying occurs.

Thanks for reading.
