My Experience W/effexor Xr

This is going to be short and sweet, as I am posting this in case anyone is looking for anecdotes re: effexor xr.

I have been on it legally for 2-3 years. Two positive things and one negative have occurred simultaneously. They are reduction in depression, reduction in anxiety, and reduction in very short term memory (ie head off to a room to fetch something and forget what it was upon arrival).

It initially caused a great deal of nausea when I tapered onto it (37.5 for a week, 75, the next, etc) which was alleviated by ginger pills available at the organic grocery store (this was recommended by my MD). The nausea subsided and resulted in mild weight loss.

I have tried to taper off of it to no avail. When I tried, after 36 hrs I experienced nausea, a 'heady' unpleasant sensation akin to increased gravity in a high speed elevator, and return of depression.

It has never interfered with my libido and I can drink alcohol, use cannabinoids, powdered cocaine, and opioids recreationally while on effexor xr without problems.

While there is no euphoria involved, I will probably be on effexor or a long time since it works for me. I would hesitate to switch to any other SSRI's SNERI's (norepi) and will be very happy when it goes generic.
