A little about myself...I'm 18 years old and consider myself a somewhat-experienced drug user. I have been smoking marijuana for about 2 years now, and in the last year have consistently smoked 2 to 3 times a day. I've experimented with ecstacy, oxycodone (Oxycontin), hydrocodone (Vicodin), as well as alcohol (duh). By the way I also smoke about a pack a day. Enough about myself but I think it is somewhat relevant to my experience with Ether.

So one day I find out at school that my friend 'S' has a water bottle of ether in his trunk. I immediatly think of the scene from Fear and Loathing and can't help but be curious/excited about what it would be like. I'm not really one to rush into things so that night I searched the vaults of erowid to research ether to see what I was getting myself into. It seemed to me it was safe enough with no permanent effects. This brings me to my next point. Always be absoloutely sure of the source of any drug that you use, especially one like ether.

I find out my friend 'S' got the ether from another friend of mine. We'll call him 'P.' 'P's' dad apparently is a real smart scientist type who works at a large laboratory with alot of various chemicals lying around. With consent of his dad, 'P' has a key or access to this lab, where a large but unspecified ammount of ether is stored and refilled all the time. So this Ether we have is pharmaceutical grade 99.999% raw ether.

It just so happens that I had the coming friday off work, and my parents would be out of town that night. I talk to 'S' and make arrangements for him to come over after school that friday. I found a few rags and went into my room. Covering the water bottle with the rag a tipping the bottle seemed to work well for getting a small ammount in the rag (by my estimate about 5 mL for each rag was optimal). I put it to my face and started inhaling. At first the odor is a little strong, comparable to gasoline or turpentine. After a few breaths the odor is bearable and I am able to take deeper breaths.

After 20-30 seconds of this I start to feel almost a drunkeness creep over my body. Vision is blurred, I find it difficult to focus on anything. My head falls to one side as it becomes more and more difficult to hold it up straight. I inhale through the rag sharply and deeply. I can't smell anything. The air I breathe in tastes almost metallic, and cool. I can tell the rag is almost 'cached' so I flip it over and the potency is renewed. I cough half way through inhaling. The rag feels cool to the touch as the last of the ether evaporates off the rag. After chillin for a few minutes, 'S' and I pour another rag. Again the first few breaths are tough to take down, and I find myself coughing mid-way through each breath, but it becomes more bearable after the first few. After the second rag I am feeling great.
