I read many reports of use of tramadol before trying it myself for the first time. Since I went through with trying a small dose of 50mg after reading reports, I feel it's only fitting to then contribute to the database with my personal experience.

For reference, I am a very experienced user of mind-altering substances. I had problems with opioid addiction in my early teenage years; however, tramadol was always something we avoided since it was considered to be no better than codeine (which did virtually nothing for most users of opioids).

I had a surgical procedure that required the prescribing of analgesic drugs. They gave me tramadol, which I was disappointed with to say the least. They were 50mg HCl tablets, marketed as Ultram.

For reference, I take a small dose of kratom daily (very small dose relative to most users of it, 0.4grams, one capsule). So my mu receptors are tickled on a daily basis. Because of this I expected tramadol to be a waste of time and would only throw off my daily ritual. I was going to use 100mg but now I'm glad I decided on only 50mg.

It was much stronger than I expected. It took a solid hour to come on. After an hour, I gained a medium burst of energy and warmth over my body. I began to feel very hot to be honest and it was quite a bit more body temperature raising than most opioids I've used, especially at a small dose like this. I must be one of the lucky ones that efficiently metabolizes tramadol into the O-desmethyl analogue because I got quite a strong effect.

The main euphoria/experience lasted maybe 3-4 hours and then hung around with slight analgesia for another 3-4hours. I could see how some might be urged to redose it; however, I didn't love the experience as much as some so it was easy to not redose after ~5hours.

So I'll finish with this:

Tramadol took me off guard with its strength and I quickly became thankful I didn't take the 100mg, that would have been too much.

The main negative side effects were slight stomach discomfort, and a sort of dizziness or lightheadedness. The body euphoria was decent.

Although my main complaint about this compound is that my surgical pain wasn't reduced a ton by this dosage. Even though I got some positive euphoria from it, I still felt the pain of my surgery coming through quite obviously from time to time. Where as taking a norco (5-10mg hydrocodone) totally took around any of the pain for a solid 4 hours.
