Kava and Damiana for Migraine
Mindset and Setting:
Working at home doing engineering work, dealing with extreme migraine that I had used 50mg of Tramadol to treat ~5 hrs beforehand. So I was in fairly bad mental pain, wanting to puke from noise and had been crying from the pain just 30 minutes before because the dogs had started barking.
Dosage and Timing:
-Two large glasses of water (about 32oz) one mixed and one straight afterwards
-One 250mg softgel Kava extract (30% Kavalactones)
-1/2 tsp Damiana powder (4:1 extract) mixed with one glass of the water
-One 250mg Niacin softgel
-One 1000 mcg Biotin softgel
-One 2500 mcg B-12 quick-release dissolving capsule
-About 1oz Keto protein powder, mixed with the same glass of water
(Nicotine, because of vaping 3mg strength so not super strong)
Results:
After about 15 minutes the migraine had lessened to simply be a severe headache and I no longer felt like I was about to blackout at my desk. I could bear the sounds of my dogs eating now - barking was still painful to deal with. I felt no mental impairments (besides pain) nor any euphoria. After about 30 minutes the migraine was more of just a slight pressure at my temples and I could feel a slight pulsing feeling but I was definitely no longer feeling crippled by the pain. Still no euphoria, only mild pain, though definitely alert. After about an hour the migraine was at the point where it just felt like a constant pressure, not distracting or crippling but a constant presence that even distractions didn't make it completely ignorable. After 75 minutes there was little change in the migraine pressure, but at least I wasn't crippling pain any more and no change in mood. After about 90 minutes the migraine pressure had lessened to the point of being completely ignorable while performing tasks I enjoyed, but present while doing menial unenjoyable tasks. After 120 minutes the migraine was completely gone - no euphoria, but killed the migraine which is a huge win in my books. After about 6 hours the migraine started to come back, so it didn't kill it but just masked it for a while.
