My mother was an alcoholic, limited to two beers a day by her husband. She lost her licence due to DD so she had no access to a store. Dad kept all the booze locked up.

I lived with them. I had been known (by her) to have booze stashed in my room occasionally.

One night, she found a thermos with about 3oz of Butanediol in my room and assumed it was alcohol. I assume she mixed it with a cola, happy to have found my stash of alcohol.

Dad burst into my room the next morning: "What did you give your mom?"
"Nothing!"

We ran to see her.... lips blue.... not breathing.... EMTs..... recessutation.... ER.... brain dead..... DNR..... RIP
