Greetings to all those who seek the Salvia experience!

First, I would like to say that I am well-experienced with psychedelics, namely LSD, Mushrooms, and Morning Glory; I have done well over 300 trips using these substances, but after reading up about Salvia, I was quite curious to try something different.

Personally, I wanted to try Salvia in a very controlled way to begin with, as I feel it's always best to start slow with something new. So I waited until I felt 'the call' of Salvia, and made the deal with it that I was simply sampling it to test and see if it was something I would like to explore further. In addition, I refrained from taking any other substances before hand, so as to assure that I could measure its isolated effects. My experience is as follows:

I set up, or prepared for the experience, by dimming the lights in the room, while playing some soft music at a low volume, and I sat down on the floor in front of my bed and packed a bong with enough Salvia for one hit; I wasn't sure if I was going to go for more than one hit, so I prepared for it by setting before me some tin foil to empty the Salvia ashes. After taking the first hit, however, I decided to not go for the second one because I wanted to wait and see what the one hit would yeild in the longer run.

So I took the first hit and held it in for a little while; I could taste the minty taste of the Salvia, and then as I exhaled it, I immediately felt it! It was the most intense rush I've ever had with a psychedelic! Like several other people have reported, the Salvia seemed to pull down on me, as if a great weight was pushing down on my shoulders; I never had such a kinestetic effect from any substance before! In addition, there was a disorientating effect and an inability to concentrate on any one particular thing for any length of time, especially immediately following the hit. I did try, however, to stand up during this period, and it was very difficult; I nearly fell onto my bed! I think I attempted this, as I had the preconceived notion that the Salvia would have a more sedating effect than it did; it was more stimulating than expected. Shortly thereafter, though, the weighed-down effect subsided and I was able to move around, although the disorientation continued for a while longer. I then decided to monitor my physical effects by checking every several minutes in a small mirror my eye pupils. I noticed that they would expand quite large for a few mintues and then recede for a few mintues; it was like waves of Salvia that would come and go like the ebb and flow of a tide. In addition, there was some perspiration in my hands that continued for over 45 minutes.

Overall, it was quite an exciting experience. The initial intensity of going from a normal state of mind to the Salvia state is so quick and strong that is can be very frightening or thrilling, depending on how one views it, I suppose, because unlike with other psychedlics, where the onset is somewhat gradual, Salvias' is so quick.

I definitely will try Salvia again soon, and I feel there is much that can be gained from its use. It is a very sacred herb and should be respected to the utmost.
