DOSE:
100 ug oral ALD-52 (blotter / tab)
BODY WEIGHT: 145 lb
I would like to make a brief documentation of my experience with the lysergamide, ALD-52.

For relevant background information, I am reasonably experienced with 'normal' LSD. I have never done large doses of LSD. My preference for an enjoyable LSD experience is a single dose (potentially two doses if the material happens to be weak).

Recently I attempted a 100ug dosage of ALD-52, purchased via the internet. The dosage was laid on perforated blotter paper of 'normal' dimensions. The text 'ALD-52' was printed on the one side of the blotter paper and the back side had a small section of what was a larger picture of the ALD-52 chemical structure.

I am aware of the theory that ALD-52 is basically a LSD prodrug, that almost complete hydrolyzation of the N1 acetyl group takes place in the acidic environment of the stomach. Based purely on my own one time experience, I do not feel this is the case. Some acid catalyzed hydrolyzation probably does occur (with the stomach at a pH ~ 2, you would expect it), but I don't think it's complete. ALD-52 induced physiological effects that I have never experienced once with LSD.

, and it's very difficult to distinguish any substantive differences in the experience (aside from the somewhat disturbing health effect I will get into). The come up was a little slow, but I believe this is due to most of my LSD experiences being taken in the form of gel tabs. (I think gel tabs tend to dissolve quicker then paper, so maybe I'm simply used to a quicker then usual onset and the ALD-52 has a 100% normal come up period.)

The visuals, the headspace, the 'body' sensations were all extremely similar to LSD. I was unable to make any real differences out during the experience. The overall duration of the experience was very similar to LSD, including the duration of the peak and the length of the come-down period.

After the peak, when I was in the process of coming-down, I started to notice a very uncomfortable ocular pressure in my eyes. At one point I bent over to put socks on (so my head was below the level of my heart), and the pressure in my eyes increased greatly, and then lessened when I lifted my head back up. This made the rest of the experience uncomfortable and tainted my overall opinion of the whole day. My right eye was more effected then my left, but it was NOT psychological in nature. When the come-down was complete, the pressure subsided mostly, but a noticeable pressure in my eyes ended up lasting about 1-2 days after the experience.

This was disturbing and it makes me unlikely to ever do this substance again.

I am aware of the theory that LSD induces visuals by increasing the pressure in your eyes (similar to how applying physical pressure on your eyelids with your fingers induces visuals). Based on my experience, I agree with the assessment that ALD-52 is better then LSD at raising blood pressure. I have never experienced the above phenomena on LSD. For this reason, I think ALD-52 to some extent IS hydrolyzed into LSD in your stomach, but enough makes it to your brain 'as-is' to induce it's own unique effects.

It was an unfortunate experience, because I did find that on ALD-52 (not during the trip, but during the post-trip comedown) I was able to more effectively calm my body and heart rate down. I was able to (with deep breathing) calm myself and fall asleep quicker then I would normally be able to do with LSD. So for me, post-trip, it lived up to its reputation as being 'calmer' then LSD, but this wasn't observed during the trip.

If this eye pressure effect wasn't involved in the ALD-52 experience, I would probably prefer it to LSD, just because of being able to get to sleep easier after. Unfortunately, I will never be doing ALD-52 again. It's just unacceptable to have that kind of eye discomfort, and I hope it didn't cause any lasting, long-term damage.
