Propofol Explained
Since there has been some notoriety about Propofol in recent years, I thought it would be prudent to describe the experience. First off, it is a sedative hypnotic drug that I have received and helped administer to certain patients. It is primarily used to induce sleep and sedation in intubated patients. It has a very rapid onset and very short half life, ie the body gets rid of it very quickly. I have had it before when I had a endoscopy. I could feel it crawling up my vein and as it entered my brain I had a very strong urge to go to sleep, not unlike that moment right before I fall asleep. The sleep was very good. I had no perception of time and I didn't dream.
I had no perception of time and I didn't dream.
It really doesn't have recreational value in my opinion though.
