DOSE:
250 mg smoked Salvia divinorum (extract)
BODY WEIGHT: 220 lb
I've now tried salvia a few times before reporting on my experiences here. It seemed a bit superficial to report on just the initial trip so I tried it four times in similar dosages worth noting (1/4 gram; 20x).

Having had a lot of experience with LSD long ago I expected something similar to that experience, but it was quite different. Oh there were patterns, but not the well-integrated kinds that blend into the textures of most everything, the salvia patterns stole the show. But that’s only if my eyes were closed.

The smoke was almost too hot to handle. I coughed it out every time. And the burn in my lungs dominated the first minute or so before I could relax. With eyes open I was quickly disoriented and uncomfortable the first time in most positions (sitting\lying on the bed) so I decided to just lie back and close my eyes to get comfortable since there was nothing much happening visually.

The immediate vision of a lattice-like shape of something that seemed to be alive grew out from my forehead and was particularly close to my eyes (though closed) while it pulsated slightly and its plant/human texture rotated around slowly. It seemed to be made of a cross between wax and plastic. There also seemed to be an intelligence in it that was happy and possibly laughing. It was a 3-dimensional thing with nothing in the background. At the center of each intersection of the lattice was what looked like an eye. I came down fairly fast, though happy, but never felt far from reality

, always knowing where I was and feeling my body in a kind of waxy air.

And that was pretty much all there was to the first trip. During the others the lattice didn’t appear, but a waxy plastic 3D wall of familiar objects instead. There was a too-familiar sense of the repeated parts of things like a phone or a cup or a pencil and I got a bit claustrophobic and bored with them. The heat of the smoke was even more intense and I decided not to continue, worrying that it was damaging my lungs.

All-in-all it was mildly interesting at that dosage but I wouldn’t go deeper simply because the heat was too much and the images didn’t beckon as I’d hoped.
